Sur Library

Located in Montevideo, Biblioteca Sur was designed as an open civic space that connects knowledge, culture and everyday urban life. Rather than functioning only as a place for books, the library offers a welcoming environment where people can read, study, meet and participate in cultural activities.

The project is organized around a central atrium that brings natural light into the building and creates visual connections between its different levels. Reading rooms, children’s areas, collaborative spaces, an auditorium and multipurpose rooms are arranged through flexible layouts that adapt to different activities throughout the day.
